Google grabs You Tube and the media and technology worlds scramble to figure out what their doing. But hey, its not something that has been hiding from us. It is has simply been hidden in a puzzle, behind layers of development, symbols of progress, and theories of new media patterns, all of which have been present amongst everyone in society.
Ahh yes, Google has done it…..Uh..., done what, you say?
Well, maybe it is too earlier to say?
Or maybe we all can find it right under our fingertips, at least our digital ones' at that. I wrote about Google's foray into audio fingerprinting through identification of ambient sounds. I also briefly dove in to the concept of how I would like to utilize this technology to help the podcasting and online video community.
Clue # 1 to the puzzle...
Google is mastering fingerprinting technology as well as some other very secretive applications. See here for more details

Clue # 2
It’s covered in secrecy and seems to be locked in a clear gold laced box and only facial recognition can open it....Hmmm?
Not really, but it sounds good, read on and see what you think...
The clue ..."Google acquired Neven Vision in August 2006"
Neven Vision develops, "Visual Sensing based on the Automated Extraction of Visual Face and Object Recognition" {Documents reveal; Neven Vision is primarily focused on the subset of computer vision known as visual sensing, which is the automated extraction of information about objects or scenes in one or more images. The core building blocks of the company's vision-enabled products and services are patented face and object recognition engines.
1. Faces in an image are automatically detected by a robust face finder component that determines the position and size of the face in real world conditions (varying illumination, pose and expression).
2. A second processing stage determines the position of local features on the face, called “landmark finding”.
3. Then a Gabor Wavelet transformation takes place to compute the “face
4. -template” from the local features by extracting
Clue # 3 - Dmarc, Dmarc, Dmarc.........
Google’s advertisers are looking to broaden their advertising options in effective ways, and radio presents a great opportunity, and DMarc fit the bill perfectly.
DMarc connects advertisers and agencies directly to radio stations with a robust advertising platform that automates everything from sales to scheduling, delivery and reports. This enables advertisers to, among others things, purchase and track their campaigns effectively -- and significantly reduce the costs associated with processing broadcast ads. Google plans to extend targeted, measurable advertising to the broadcast space. In fact, even as you read this, our engineers and executives are working to seamlessly integrate dMarc’s technologies and operations to offer AdWords advertisers a broad suite of digital broadcast options.
This leads us further down the path towards the illustrious ivory Google pearl.
Google recognizes the power of ad insertion technology, and it understands that the acquisition of DMarc allows them ingest another technology that will serve to dynamically offer advertisements. But with the mention of fingerprinting technology and ad hoc social communities, there is a much bigger operation in play.
Clue # 4 – Last but not least
Dynamic Insertion of ads based on the adwords system, where any user can choose to place an ad dynamically into any existing video time slot available on any TV show, movie or viral video available.Google will structure a scheduling platform where they will present the users with the program airing dates, or current number of viewings, then it will offer the associated CMP for advertisement based on the slot popularity and market demand.
This allows Google to operate a free online video market, where videos can be uploaded and downloaded at will. The content producers and publishers will have the ability to monetize their video, and Google will reap ad revenue benefits. At the same time the user will have DRM attachments with Google’s emerging fingerprinting technologies.
Findings
Google is aligning itself to not only circumvent all traditional media outlets, but offer new ones content and at the same time increase their ad revenue through improved technologies and security, all while offering further monetization to the individual content provider and expanding their reach on society and the world’s content.
Now if they start telling me that they can sense that I smell bad, and then show me ads of old spice, I might get a little worried.
